SEED EXCHANGE NEWS

We are so glad you found the Heirloom Seed Swap site, the free seed exchange.

This site is still new and we need your help to let people know about it, so we can all benefit by having more varieties of seeds available. Ways you can help are by adding links to your blogs, forums, or any other site you have. We also encourage you to publish articles and forum posts telling people about Heirloom Seed Swap and encouraging them to save seeds. And or course... Post adds here to exchange, barter or sell your seeds.

Anything you do to help get the word out will help more people benefit by being able to trade seeds.

Thank You,

Johnny MAX & the Queen

CURRENT NEWS!
MARCH 25th 2010
The Survival Podcast KICK-STARTS the Swapping

Jack Spirco of The Survival Podcast did a show on "Saving Seeds, the How & Why" and in that show he asked his listeners to please help get this site up and running. His plea was answered by a hoard (I never get to use that word, so I used it) of gardeners who registered and posted their seeds for trade. The board picked up trading instantly. One seed swapper expressed sadness that they had to take down their ads, because they had all been traded, but they were excited about the new seeds they would be getting. I must admin I had a hard time pulling myself away from the computer, because I did not want to miss out on some cool seeds before someone else beat me to them. This site is going to be very addictive.

Have you had your seed swap fix today?

First Seed Exchange Takes Place

The first Seed Exchange was uneventful and took place without a hitch. A variety of white meat small watermelons seeds were posted on the site for trade. A registered member clicked on their add, clicked the "reply to add" button and offered several types of seeds for trade. The watermelon seed owner agreed to the trade for some Amish Country Sweet Blue Popcorn seeds, they exchanged addresses and mailed the seeds in an envelope to each other. It was too simple and cost no more than mailing a letter.

Heirloom Seed Swap is launched

Johnny MAX & the Queen launched the
Heirloom Seed Swap site with an announcement on their podcast the Self-Sufficient Homestead with a description of the site and the purpose. The purpose was to make a seed exchange site available for free, so the growing number of unenployed had access to seeds for free in some cases. This site was driven by a desire to help the unemployed and those struggling. There was also a lot of pleading and begging from Johnny Max for help, which was good for a laugh.
